This
month the Russian authorities ordered
closure of all casino and gambling
establishments in the country. Following a
long debated law, casinos and gambling in
general in Russia are now confined to just
four regions, all far away from the capital
of Moscow. The actual law that banned the
casinos in almost all of Russia was signed
back in 2006, but at the time many
questioned if the authorities would actually
follow through with the anti-gambling bill.
After all, it's not the first time Russia is
trying to stand tall against the
milt-billion industry.
Needless
to say, the government is indeed following
through with the casino gambling bill and
there will be no more gambling in the
country's capital. All casinos there were
ordered to close or relocate to the four
distant zones which would allow casino
gambling, but are too far away from any
civilization to be worth the effort. The
bill also made online gambling and the
online casinos illegal in the country. How
the authorities would watch for online
gambling remains unknown. Much like the
US
online casinos, there is no real chance
the online casinos in Russia to be kicked
out with anything short of civil liberties
violations such as China.
